We are at the peak of storm season in New Castle this time of year. Severe Thunderstorms, Floods, and even Tornadoes can be prevalent in the summertime. The best way to keep you and your family safe is to be prepared. SERVPRO of Lawrence County is here with some safety tips to help you tackle severe weather this year!

Severe Thunderstorms

Though these are one of the more common storms, they are still dangerous. Severe Thunderstorms produce lightning and sometimes even hail. Whenever there is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in New Castle, head indoors. It is also important to stay away from windows when lightning and hail are in the area.

Another dangerous result of storms are Floods. These floods are even more dangerous when they are Flash Floods. Flash Floods come fast, typically within 3-6 hours of the initial rainfall. Stay away from areas with flooding and remember, only 6 inches of moving water can take someone off their feet. Never drive through moving water either.

Tornadoes are the largest and most destructive of the storms we can see in New Castle. Make sure to stay tuned in to weather stations to stay up to date on weather alerts. If there is a Tornado in your area, head indoors and to the lowest point in your home. Have an emergency kit containing first aid supplies, a flashlight, and a NOAA weather radio.

Unfortunately, with these storms comes storm damage. We know how devastating storm damage can be, that is why we are committed to helping the community following a disaster. We have highly trained restoration technicians ready to respond to any size disaster.
